Looking to purchase an air assist for my Max4. I currently have a Max3 using an airbrush compressor for the air assist. I’m just wondering if there is something different that I should be using. Links to models would be great help.
If the high-pressure air pump does not have a professional oil-water separator, you can use a needle-type air assist
I am also upgrading from a 3Max to a 4Max, assembly in progress and waiting for the relay so M7 turns on the Vacuum system. I use M8 and the Neje air solenoid to control air at the laser beam. I have a shop with a high pressure source regulated to 90 psi from the tank, and on the 3 I used another regulator at the laser to step down to 30psi. There is a water trap at the compressor, although it never does collect any water even though it builds up in the tank.
I changed from an oil lubed compressor to an oil free, but cannot know if there is any oil lining the pipes from the compressor to the shop. I read about contaminants in the air might stick to the laser’s protective lens, and I do see cutting power drop, so I bought this triple filter for the 4:

except that I bought a less expensive kit for 1/4 NTP but Amazon is only showing 3/8, 1/2, and 3/4 now. The 1/4 NTP is smaller overall, and I think the kit looks good. I have hooked it up to pressurized air, and it does regulate pressure properly.
I just got the relay for the vac delivered, so I may have some feedback about using this filter and regulator soon.
