The E80 fan is controlled by temperature. If it runs at full speed constantly, it usually means the **temperature sensor (NTC probe)**​ inside the laser head is not detected or has come loose.

Please check the following:

  1. **Inspect the NTC Probe:**​ Open the laser head shell. There is a small black sensor attached to the laser tube. If it falls off, the fan won’t know the temperature and will run non-stop. Please make sure it is tightly attached to the laser tube.

  2. **Wiring Check:**​ If you are using a third-party control board, make sure the PWM wire for the fan is connected correctly. If the PWM pin gets constant 24V, the fan will never stop.

If the sensor is broken, you may need a new laser head assembly. Let me know what you find!

Mine did the same.

And eventually my fan stopped

So ordered new fans..the open laser head has me concerned.what am i looking at

This issue is essentially caused by a disconnected internal temperature sensing wire. With no detectable temperature reading, the built-in module firmware cannot perform dynamic fan speed regulation, so the cooling fan runs continuously right after power-up. This malfunction does not affect normal laser operation, and no repair is required.

Hi Dav, can you tell me what the temperature output is?

Is a raw NTC resistance? If so what type, and slope?

or a data stream? If a data stream, what data rate and format, Is it continuous or polled?

I wish to be able to read the temperature on an E80 module, to keep it happy…
