What compressor do you use?

I cut laminated MDF 3 mm, and a lot of glue residue settles on the laser. This indicates that the compressor isn’t handling it and a more powerful one is needed.

I have the NEJE Air Assist Set To Protect the Laser Module Lens - $69.

If you want to improve cutting efficiency, the air assist pressure is 8-10 bar. This picture shows the air compressor and oil-water filter device.

Please describe in more detail what model of compressor it is, how you connected it to the laser, and what adapters you used. Thank you. Could you please record a video?

I have a 6 bar compressor. Do I need the NEJE AF3 24V Auto Control Electromagnetic Valve Air Assist Kit and an adapter to connect it?

6bar is also OK, there is no fixed standard. High-pressure gas helps to blow away carbonized materials and improve cutting efficiency, but it requires an oil and water filter device. Oil and water can easily make the lens opaque and burn.

If so, the lens will stay clean, right?

If your gas source is clean, you can directly use the adapter on the side of the E80 laser module to connect the gas pipe.

I did exactly that. I’m using the adapter on the side of the laser module, with 1 bar (0.1 MPa) pressure. When I tried 1.5 bar, the cutting was worse, although in the Neje Facebook group people say you need 4–6 bar for cutting MDF — that seems way too much and very strange advice

I tested with a Z45 setup, 3 mm MDF, 1 bar pressure (photo attached).

It cut circles at speeds from 400 to 560 with 83% power, but for some reason, when I cut a panel (figures), it doesn’t cut through at those speeds. I lowered to 450 speed and 83% power, still didn’t cut :man_facepalming: It only cuts at 400 speed and 83% power.

**Why?

If your gas source contains oil and water, and there is no filtered gas source, it will cause the protective lens to be dirty, then the laser penetration will be reduced, the power will drop, and high pressure cutting of MDF board will improve cutting efficiency.
