Camera is mounted 40cm above the bed. The Neje videos show it should only need 30cm. Can this be replaced with a wider angle camera to properly view the entire bed needed for performing the lightburn camera lens alignment and calibration?
Yes, that should work. Lightburn has tables that show the relationship between focal length and distance.
The Lightburn camera selection help isn’t specifically for the Neje 16MP camera but expect the numbers to be similar for fixed focus cameras (no manual adjustment option on the camera to adjust the focus). This proves my point that minimum height for 85 degree lens needs 5.45CM. I designed my enclosure based on the Neje documentation provided showing 30cm worked, which clearly does not work. I think Neje should replace this camera with a wider angle lens or cover the cost of a replacement based on the inaccurate documentation.
To further support my suspicions. I rigged up a temporary support to let me adjust the camera height until it was able to view the entire bed. The minimum height for this Neje 16MP (85 degree) camera is 54.5cm as you can see in the photos. As I mentioned above, my enclosure was designed based on the Neje WIKI site showing 30cm worked with this camera. It looks like my only option is a 120 degree camera for the clearance I have in my enclosure. I think Neje needs to fix their documentation and replace or refund my camera to get one that will work.

Hi Jim,
Please review this thread (topic) and let me know if Customer Support can provide a resolution.
Thanks-
Thanks for the response. My problem is that saying this will camera will work at 30cm does not imply that you are effectively only getting to use a portion of the total available bed size since the camera defines the usable bed size. The larger working area is one of the main reasons we purchase the Neje over other smaller hobby machines?
It would be nice to have guidance on the WIKI page to specify the ACTUAL camera height needed (for the camera included with your bundle). This camera CAN view the full bed and be calibrated with the instructions provided but NOT from the 30cm distance your WIKI page spells out.
I’m now forced to buy another 120 degree camera if I want to auto detect material anywhere on the working area, which could have been avoided if I had the correct specs when I built my enclosure.
I’m not expecting Neje will cover this cost of replacing the camera for me (which would be nice), but hope this either helps avoid this issue for someone else in the future and would suggest updating the documentation on your site to clear this up.
Please let me know if you feel this is an unfair criticism or if you are ultimately recommending only calibrating the camera for the available focus range even if it’s a portion of the total size of the bed.
Thanks-
Update ---- I ultimately purchased the 120 degree camera and proves my point that this is only way you can capture the full working area from 30 cm distance. I’ve seen several other posts with people having the same questions but doesn’t ever get a good answer or resolution. I hope this will motivate NEJE support to either update the WIKI page to show a proper distance to support the 85 degree camera or maybe give the option to bundle it with the 120 degree version.
I’m really disappointed that the only support option is through this forum and hasn’t been very responsive to viable ways to use their product or take ownership for this misleading and under developed lack of documentation.
